Tim Chavez to speak at THCC's Annual Meeting
Tim A. Chávez
About Me
I am a former political columnist for 10 years for The Tennessean newspaper
in Nashville -- although I've never seen Al Gore in person. I contribute to
Hispanic Link News Service in Washington, D.C. It distributes over the Scripps-Howard
newswire. I have been diagnosed with leukemia. By the grace of God, I am alive
to write this blog. I claim no ideology or party. Both too often betray. I believe
in the right person to create change for Americans without health care insurance,
for wounded veterans needing more help and for Hispanic immigrants denied human
dignity for the contributions they bring. I've won three national reporting
awards for commentary from the Education Writers Association. I have received
the Will Rogers Humanitarian Award from the National Society of Newspaper Columnists.
I am not a Bush-hater. Because of personal experiences, I support No Child Left
Behind reforms. I received two awards for commentary on Hispanic children left
behind in Nashville classrooms from the Casey Journalism Center at the University
of Maryland. E-mail me at timchavez787@yahoo.com
